Before you start

You’ll need your USB cable:

To enter the unlock code, you will need a SIM card from another provider (ie: if you phone is locked to O2, you will need a SIM card from someone else, like T-Mobile or AT&T).

If you are running tethering software on your computer like PDAnet or other solutions, please exit or uninstall the tethering software before running the program.

Exiting PDAnet

Look for the icon in your taskbar that looks like a small PDA. It maybe be black or grey with a red X as seen below:

Click it and select “exit” to shut down the program:

Unlock Steps for Windows

  1. Download our unlocker installer from here:

Choose your device:

  1. Double-click the dell-aero-install.exe installer from where you saved it.

  1. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the application.

  1. You will be asked to install drivers for your device:

  1. The driver installation will then install the drivers. Click “Next” to continue at each step. If you are prompted to install unsigned drivers, please allow it.

  1. If you would like to unlock your phone now, leave the checkbox checked and click “Finish”.

  1. The unlocker program will launch and display the following screen as it attempts to connect to the server. If this screen stays up, you may need to disable your firewall or configure your network proxy:

  1. The main screen will then come up:

  1. If you have purchased a registration code from our site, you may enter it in the box at the top of the screen. If you have not purchased a registration code, you may continue in trial mode or purchase one now:

Purchase a Dell Aero unlock from

  1. Click the “Unlock Phone” button to continue.

  1. Connect the USB cable to your phone’s USB port (on the left side, under the plastic flag), then to your computer’s USB port.

  1. If prompted on the screen, hold the power button to turn the phone on. If there is a “slide to unlock” screen, slide the small button as indicated.

  1. When prompted on the screen for the USB connection type, select “ADB Mode”. If you are not prompted when connecting the USB cable, locate the “Settings” application, tap “USB mode settings” and ensure that “Automatic” is set to OFF.

  1. The program will run to completion and display the unlock code for your device. This may take a few minutes.

    If the program appears frozen, it may be unable to find the USB device. Try unplugging and re-plugging the USB cable from the phone and if that doesn’t work, a different USB port on your computer.

    If this does not solve the problem, check that you are not running tethering programs like PDAnet or others. They may interfere with the unlock program and may need to be temporarily shut down or uninstalled.

  1. After your phone restarts, you will be prompted to enter a code. Enter the code provided by the unlock program.
